First Responders are highly trained professionals and critical to the success of implementing your disaster program. Treatment for your First Responders must be available immediately upon exposure to assure they remain symptom free to effectively implement your disaster plan.
Although delivery of federal assets from the Strategic National Stockpile claim can be delivered within 12 hours, it has become apparent that the transfer of Federal assets to State authorities and then from the State for further distribution to the county and city levels, in many instances, may not be available for the first 24 to 48 hours or longer depending on any damage to event infrastructure. This response time may be adequate for the general population, but not for your First Responders. Many State and County organizations are now implementing their own First Responder Programs. Storing essential medication treatments throughout your plan’s geographic territory is an intelligent addition to any successful Disaster Plan.
